While at King Hall, she participated in the Immigration Law Clinic, by assisting immigrant women mistreated at a chicken processing plant to apply for U-visas and asylum. Jessica was the research assistant for Dean Kevin Johnson on issues of immigration, discrimination, constitutional law, and human rights. She was a contributing blogger for the UC Davis School of Law Journal for International Law and Policy

Prior to this fellowship, Jessica worked as an immigration attorney at the Law Office of Robert B. Jobe representing Indians in deportation and asylum proceedings. Jessica remains an active member of the National Lawyers Guild. She volunteers for the legal defense committee supporting the water protectors at Standing Rock, North Dakota. She leads “Know Your Rights” presentations and attends rallies and demonstrations as a Legal Observer.
